Peter Pan has more than Capt. Hook to worry about this weekend. He has the whole Longhorn football team breathing down his neck. Turns out the opening production of Ballet Austin’s season, a ballet based on J.M. Barrie’s boy from Neverland, coincides with UT’s next home game, a face-off against the Missouri Tigers. Fortunately, with a 2:30pm kickoff, the stadium and parking lots should be cleared long before the balletomanes arrive to see Peter, Wendy, Tinkerbell, and the Lost Boys. But before the university settled on the current game time, there was a possibility that the game could have started late enough for the ballet to be blitzed by the gridiron activity. Just in case, BA added a Sunday evening performance, so if you’re considering going – and you should, as the company’s 2002 production of this ballet was a soaring delight – you have one more option: Sunday at 7pm. One more reason we long for the Long Center.
