Picture more than 50 artists converging on a big Eastside warehouse/studio space on a Friday night. For six hours, fueled by beer and pizza, they create, separately and – more intriguingly – collaboratively, new works of art. Then picture, nine hours later, more than 50 (or maybe twice that) lovers of art converging on the same space. For three hours, fueled by coffee and breakfast treats, they appreciate, viewing and – more importantly – buying all these new creations.

Ladies and gentlemen, from the folks who gave you the East Austin Studio Tour, Night Owl & Early Bird, an event that raises funds (for EAST, the Texas Biennial, and host Big Medium) by having artists come together and work together. Night Owl will happen Friday, March 12, 6pm-midnight, with all local artists invited to participate. Pencils and paper will be provided, along with the beer and pizza, but feel free to bring other materials. Early Bird follows on Saturday, March 13, 9am-noon, with everyone welcome. Both events take place at Big Medium, 5305 Bolm #12. For more information, call 385-1670 or visit www.bigmedium.org.
