When the Moontower Comedy & Oddity Festival released the names of 50 comics for the 2017 edition before Christmas, you knew that wouldn’t be it. Not that Ali Wong, Patton Oswalt, Ralphie May, and the others weren’t plenty to get excited about, but Moontower loves to save some juice for the new year. And this week it poured some.
On Wednesday, the Austin-based laughapalooza dropped another nine names – some of them major headliners – for the sixth fest, playing April 19-22 in Austin. Adding to the fun will be:
• quintuple-threat host Chris Hardwick, of Comedy Central’s @midnight, AMC’s Talking Dead and Talking Saul, NBC’s The Wall, and his podcast The Nerdist;
• Jay Pharoah, SNL alum and star of the upcoming Showtime series White Famous, created and produced by Jamie Foxx;
• world-class complainer Matt Bellassai, creator of the hit BuzzFeed web series Whine About It and his current To Be Honest;
• omnipresent comic, character actor, and voice actor Brian Posehn, whose new special Posehn/25×2 is now available at SeeSo; and
• Morgan Murphy comedian (Irish Goodbye) and writer for 2 Broke Girls, Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live!
