The Ransom Center is currently showing the exhibition “Rehearsing the American Dream: Arthur Miller’s Theater,” drawn from the center’s archives of Miller’s papers from 1935 to 1953. In conjunction with the exhibition, Tony Kushner will speak with playwright Steven Dietz about Arthur Miller Thursday, Oct. 18, 7pm, at Jessen Auditorium on the UT campus. At press time, no seats were available. However, empty seats will be released beginning at 6:50pm.
On Thursday, Oct. 25, 7pm, Charlotte Canning and Lucien Douglas from UT’s Department of Theatre & Dance will present Up Against the American Dream, a 90-minute presentation that weaves together critical commentary and scenes from All My Sons, The Crucible, A View From the Bridge, After the Fall, The Archbishop’s Ceiling, and The American Clock. Free; seating is limited.
On Friday, Oct. 26, 2pm, David Savran, professor of theatre at the City University of New York Graduate Center, will present a lecture titled Arthur Miller and the Broadway Canon, addressing the construction of the canonical, Pulitzer Prize-winning Broadway play, with a focus on Miller’s work. The City Theatre Company is presenting Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman, with Chronicle Arts writer Barry Pineo as Willy Loman, through Nov. 4, Thursday-Saturday, 8pm, Sunday, 5:30pm, at the City Theatre, 3823 Airport Ste.
