Even as program alums are changing the face of theatre in Austin, another class of students is at Winedale, being changed by its immersion in three of Shakespeare’s plays. The class of summer 2004 have their hands full with a Falstaffian farce, a romance of forgiveness on an enchanted isle, and that most ill-starred of tragedies, the Scottish Play. Public performances started last week, leaving three more weekends for the students to root around in these weird and wonderful worlds. Should you wish to join them, here is the schedule. Keep in mind the fact that you’ll be sitting hip to hip with 400 other folks in an old hay barn. Dress coolly. Reservations are recommended, particularly for the Saturday performances. For reservations, call the Winedale Historical Center, 979/278-3530 (9am-5pm daily). Tickets are $8 and may be picked up at the theatre 90 minutes before each performance. Reserved seating is given to program contributors; other seats are first-come, first-served. A traditional Hunter’s Stew dinner will be served on July 24 and 31 at 5pm. Cost is $5.
