Unpublished writers struggling to get their work out to a broader audience know all too well the feeling of doors slammed shut in their face. But the Writers League of Texas wants to help jam a foot in that door.

The WLT Agents Conference, now in its 17th year, provides unpublished writers with the rare opportunity to meet with actual agents, editors, and other industry professionals – you know, the kind of people most writers know only via form rejection letters. All registrants are guaranteed a 10-minute one-on-one consultation with an agent, but the conference isn’t just about handshakes and business card swaps, though; the three-day conference hosts 24 panels on all facets of the industry, as well as mixers with other writers in the trenches. Conference participants include representatives from William Morris Endeavor, Harper One, Soft Skull Press, Chronicle Books, and Austin’s Phenix & Phenix.

The conference takes place June 25-27 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, and registration is still open. Go here for more info.
