The invaluable Harry Ransom Center just released its slate of winter guest lecturers, which kicks off Jan. 25 with a talk by Booker Prize-winner Barry Unsworth, to whom we gave a big thumbs up last week for his latest novel, Land of Marvels.
Also on tap for the eclectic series: national monument David Mamet (who knows at least three uses of the knife and, we suspect, wouldn’t hesitate to use ’em all); Azar Nafisi, author of Reading Lolita in Tehran and the forthcoming Things I Have Been Silent About; and American artist Ed Ruscha, most commonly associated with the Pop Art movement.
All lectures are free and open to the public. Doors open 30 minutes before the program begins. No reservations required, but seating is limited.
