Mmm chili

Chili and contemporary art – a combination as classic as pickles and Picasso, or so it will be this Saturday, when GlassTire hosts a chili cookoff in our town. The online journal for all things visual artsy in Texas has coerced folks from assorted area arts organizations such as Austin Museum of Art, Arthouse, and D Berman Gallery to swap their painters’ smocks for chefs’ aprons and stir up some serious Lone Star stew in competition for the GlassTire chili prize – not to be confused with the big Arthouse Texas Prize, however, two of that new award’s four finalists (Eileen Maxson, Robyn O’Neil, Robert A. Pruitt, and Ludwig Schwarz, whose artwork goes on view at Arthouse that very day) have bravely agreed to judge the results. Music by Cockfight Grenade Attack will liven the proceedings, which take place Saturday, Sept. 10, 6-10pm, at Lora Reynolds Gallery, 300 West Ave. For more information, visit www.glasstire.com.
