No, it isn’t your imagination. The East Austin Studio Tour is bigger. A lot bigger.
What used to be merely a few hundred visual artists exhibiting work in studios, galleries, markets, warehouses, schools, and temporary spaces, now is just shy of the 550 mark. And the tour sites, which were originally concentrated in the central part of the Eastside, in this 15th annual extravaganza sprawl from 290 & 183 up north to Riverside & Montopolis down south. Which means art explorers need to be even more strategic in planning where to go and what to see as they head east of I-35 in search of paintings, sculptures, installations, and the like. As this Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 19 & 20, constitute the tour’s second and final weekend this year, the Chronicle wants you to make the most of it.
