Allow me just a few words in support of the (temporary) downtown galleries at
823 Congress. Whether or not the Venturi museum building moves forward — and
yes, I still hope that it does — we can all benefit enormously from five years
of programming in these new, improved AMOA galleries. They triple the total
exhibition space for the museum and provide it with the room to offer a slew of
innovative programs, educational opportunities, expanded exhibitions, and a
new, improved museum shop which, unlike the former Satellite Shop at Sixth
& Congress, can benefit from being a physical part of the museum and its
exhibition space. Look for AMOA’s downtown galleries to bring a burst of energy
to Congress Avenue. — R.S.C.
