• The Long Center recently gained an additional $150,000 toward the $77 million total of its capital campaign. At a Corporate Council meeting on Dec. 7, Fulbright & Jaworski law firm announced a $100,000 gift, and health giant Humana kicked in $50,000. Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst was also on hand to say that the performing arts hall will “dramatically improve the quality of life in Austin” and to promise center board chair (and namesake) Joe Long that he’d match his gift of last year with a new one. The new gifts officially put the center at the $68 million mark, with $9 million left to raise.
