Congratulations to Stephanie Weiler and Lea Hernandez on being tapped for the anthology 24-Hour Comics Day Highlights 2005, being published by 24-Hour Comics Day organizer About Comics. The two were among some 70 artists who spent April 23 and 24 at Austin Books & Comics the largest turnout of any comics shop in the country each trying to write and draw a 24-page story in 24 hours. The 496-page collection featuring their efforts, plus stories by 22 other professional and amateur creators from around the country, will be published in October.
The Austin Arts Commission Guidelines Committee has been working on funding for minority-based, ethnically specific arts institutions and has some recommendations on that subject. In order to get public comment on this issue, a public meeting is being held to present the ideas to the community. It will be Wednesday, June 29, 5:30-7pm, at the A.B.
