Award-winning British historian Simon Sebag Montefiore (Jerusalem: The Biography) will speak on the opening night of the Austin Jewish Book Fair on Sunday, Oct. 28.

Montefiore will also appear earlier in the day at the Texas Book Festival, which released its finalized schedule yesterday.

Other AJFF speakers include Leslie Maitland, an investigative reporter who tracked down her mother’s long-lost first love in Crossing the Borders of Time: A True Story of War, Exile, and Love Reclaimed (Oct. 29); Matti Friedman, speaking about his book The Aleppo Codex: A True Story of Obsession Faith, and the Pursuit of an Ancient Bible on Jewish History Mystery Night (Oct. 31); historical novelist Maggie Anton (Rav Hisda’s Daughter), featured speaker at the annual Book Lover’s Luncheon (Nov. 1); and Closing Night speaker Harry Oster, a professor of Pathology and Genetics and the author of Legacy: A Genetic History of the Jewish People (Nov. 4).

The Opening Night event, presented in conjunction with the Jewish Book Council and the Texas Book Festival, is free and open to the public, but most other AJBF events require tickets. You can find more information and purchase advance tickets at shalomaustin.org.
