The Austin Critics Table has named the eighth group of individuals to be inducted into the Austin Arts Hall of Fame. As with the previous honorees, these seven Austinites have made significant contributions to the community over many years – some as artists, some as educators, some as patrons, some as administrators, some as a combination of these, but all as friends of and advocates for the arts. The 2009 class of inductees includes:

Bonnie Cullum (Vortex Repertory Company) – director, artistic director, company co-founder

Mary Margaret Farabee (Texas Book Festival, Paramount Theatre, Charles W. Moore Foundation, et al.) – patron, activist

Daniel Johnson (Texas Early Music Project/UT Early Music Ensemble) – vocalist, instrumentalist, scholar, artistic director, company founder

Sylvia Orozco (Mexic-Arte Museum) – artist, director, company co-founder

Damian Priour – visual artist

Alexandra Nadal and Eugene Slavin (Ballet Austin) – dancers, directors, educators

The new Hall of Famers will be recognized at the 2008-09 Austin Critics Table Awards ceremony, to be held on Monday, June 1, 7pm, at Cap City Comedy Club, 8120 Research.
