Ballet Austin has moved its subscriber services and box office to the future Dance Education Center, located at 501 W. Third. For years, they had been housed in the small strip center adjacent to the ballet’s firehouse home on Guadalupe, but when BA was notified that the center was being rebuilt, it decided to consolidate its business offices into one location. Eventually, Ballet Austin will move most of its operations to the central business district. Executive Director Cookie Ruiz expects to bring dance to the new building “within two years.”
Cathie Sheridan, Ann Richards-McKelvey, Emily Bem, Sarah Collins, Stuart Moulton, Greg Holt, Brian Jenson, Michael McKelvey, and accompanist Steve Saugey will all take part in Cabaret for Life, a performance benefiting cancer research and treatment. Take your pick from a dinner performance Saturday, June 26, 6:30pm; a Night Owl Cabaret (for mature audiences) Saturday, 10:45pm; or a matinee, Sunday, June 27, 3pm. All performances are at Austin Playhouse in Penn Field, 3601 S. Congress. Proceeds benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and Lance Armstrong Foundation.
