marketing & events intern

The Austin Chronicle is seeking an intern to join the Marketing department for an unforgettable summer of 2014.

You will work with the Marketing Department to develop and implement unique marketing campaigns, events, and the overall promotion of the Chronicle. This internship is designed to expose you to how events are planned from start to finish with a focus on on-site activations, how to organize and implement marketing tactics with a focus on social media, and to build your portfolio by creating interesting content for The Austin Chronicle. A main focus of this position will also be to support one of the Chronicle’s largest events this year, the 24th annual Hot Sauce Festival on August 24. School credit is available.

Examples of intern duties:
Schedule and organize social media posts.
Research event vendors
Venue scouting
Research & gather data on past projects
Help plan and set up on-site event activations such as advance movie screenings, concerts, and all Austin Chronicle events.
Create content for events blog, photo albums, and social media messaging

Requirements:
Must love engaging in the Austin community
Must be active on social media and understand the functionality of social media channels
Must have reliable transportation
Must provide own laptop and smartphone
Available to attend events on weekends and evenings from time-to-time (you will have advance notice)
Must be able to commit to internship through August 31.
Experience or interest in photography and/or videography a plus!

digital media intern

The Austin Chronicle is seeking an interns to join the Marketing Department for an unforgettable summer of 2014.

This internship is designed to give you experience working within the marketing field of a print and digital media organization. You’ll gain experience with on-site event activations, social media campaigns, and marketing strategies. Emphasis will be placed on creating original digital content and photography, so this will be a great opportunity for someone looking to build their portfolio by creating interesting content for The Austin Chronicle. This position will also support one of the Chronicle’s largest events this year, the 24th annual Hot Sauce Festival on August 24. School credit is available.

Photograph Austin Chronicle promotional and in-house events
Attend and help setup at Chronicle events when needed
Create content for events blog, photo albums, and social media messaging
Provide new ideas for digital sponsorship integrations
Oversee digital sponsorship fulfillments

chrontourage street team

The Austin Chronicle is looking to add a few volunteer members to our street team. If you love going out to events and shows and are enthusiastic about promoting cool things going on around town, you might be a perfect addition to our Chrontourage team.

The 'chron-tourage' (aka Chron2) is a vital part of of the overall marketing and social media operations of the Austin Chronicle. The perfect candidate is sharp and outgoing and will serve as an informed representative of the Austin Chronicle.

You will work with the promotions manager and other Chrontourage members to coordinate our presence at events, develop and implement fun marketing campaigns and give out free stuff to our fans. You'll be expected to attend concerts, movie screenings, and other exciting events happening around town as a representative of the Austin Chronicle.

In addition to invaluable experience and a great time you have the opportunity to earn significant perks. The hours and time commitment are flexible. We want you to be out at events you love as much as possible!
