2nd Annual Austin Chronicle Cookout

The second annual Austin Chronicle Cookout is a free event that offers Austinites of all ages to enjoy some of the best in local hip-hop. Food from Cazamance African Trailer, live art from SprATX, backyard games, and frozen treats courtesy of the SIMS Foundation all get started at 5pm. Performing artists include Riders Against the Storm, Sip Sip, LNS Crew, Space Camp Death Squad and Dat Boy Supa. Check out to the lineup at austinchronicle.com/cookout.

Austin Animal Center, The heat is on, so it’s the “purrfect” time to join a bunch of really cool cats at Austin Animal Center's KittyPalooza! At this event adoption fees for all shelter cats and kittens will be waived for Saturday and Sunday. All cats will be spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated—a value of more than $200. Also, the first 50 adopters will get a goodie bag!

'The 1968 Exhibit' at the Bullock Museum

Bullock Texas State History Museum, "The 1968 Exhibit" brings to life this pivotal American year. See an iconic purple jacket worn by rock legend Jimi Hendrix, Mr. Rogers' sweater, vintage album covers, and Vietnam-era artifacts. Enjoy three interactive lounges, cast a vote in the '68 presidential election, and listen to music by '60s rock icons.
