Wednesdays tend to be the slowest day at the Chronicle for OTR, a slight break from the anxiety of the past issue and the deadlines looming in the near future. As such, there’s a bit of time to catch up on some of the local music videos making the rounds online. Tune in each week for a few of favorites.
Phranchyze “Dolo”
The gem from the local battle rapper’s latest LP, The Black Larry Bird, takes a “Day in the Life” approach and features a cameo from Gary Clark, Jr.
The Octopus Project “Hallucinists”
Directed by Wiley Wiggins, this slow-motion marvel perfectly compliments the Project’s fun house electronica. The band’s highly anticipated Hexadecagon, which debuted at SXSW, gets officially released on Oct. 26, just in time for Halloween.
Girl in a Coma “Walking After Midnight”
Here’s a small consolation if you missed the San Antonio trio’s recent in-store appearance at Waterloo Records supporting Adventures in Coverland. This throwback to the Patsy Cline standard tops even Robert Rodriguez’s fan video for “As the World Falls Down.”
