The University of Texas baseball team was granted a No. 7 seed by the NCAA tournament committee, thereby earning home-field advantage for the first round of the tourney. If the Longhorns can emerge victorious from this round, they’ll host the super regional against the winner of the Tempe regional (hosted by Arizona State). UT’s solid regular-season play (43-15) behind ace starting pitcher Taylor Jungmann (above) and fellow Big 12 Baseball Championship All-Tournament teammates shortstop Brandon Loy and outfielder Paul Montalbano has put UT in this prime postseason position. The Horns play their first game Friday against No. 4 seed Princeton, after the second-seeded Texas State Bobcats face No. 3 Kent State.

Double-elimination format: Friday, June 3: Kent State vs. Texas State: 1pm. Princeton vs. Texas: 6:30pm. Saturday, June 4: Game 1 & 2 losers: 1pm. Game 1 & 2 winners: 6:30pm. Sunday, June 5: Game 3 winner vs. game 4 loser: 1pm. Game 4 & 5 winners: 6:30pm. Monday, June 6: Rematch of game 6: 1pm (if necessary). Disch-Falk Field, 1300 E. MLK.
