Maybe the idea of lounging in the shade, reading geeky tech books seems a little odd. But then, there was probably a time when the idea of a phone ringing in the middle of a movie theatre once seemed unthinkable — and my (grumble, grumble), how times have changed. Technology is culture, baby, and the culture is heart-poundingly in love with technology. Even summer reading is getting a tech makeover, with a spate of recently released books of all stripes: stories from the trenches, comic goofs, fictional techno-thrillers, how-you-can-make-a-fortune-like-me manuals, and books from writers eager to explain What It All Means. With the following reviews, we dive head-first into the season’s literary offerings for the geek in us all.
