Three decades after his three best-known films Las Poquianchis, El Apando, and Canoa shook Mexican socio-political circles and sent ripples north and south, the great and versatile Felipe Cazals is the subject of the Austin Film Society’s latest series, co-presented by Cine Las Americas. Felipe Cazals: The Conscience of Mexico runs from March 7 to March 28. The director himself will attend a SXSW Film 06 screening of Las Vueltas del Citrillo on March 11 at the Regal Arbor Cinema.
