Duchess, the Red Tailed Hawk. Like all the bird residents of the Austin Nature & Science Center, she is a rescued animal who would not be able to survive in the wild. Duchess arrived at the Center in 2007 with a broken wing, and has permanent neurological damage. The staff have added extra padding to the floor of her home to make sure she does not injure herself. -
Pogo, the Common Raven. Like all the bird residents of the Austin Nature & Science Center, he is a rescued animal who would not be able to survive in the wild. In Pogo’s case, he was an imprinted pet, found in Downtown Austin in 2011 with a permanently injured wing and a leash on his leg. -
