The Austin Chronicle is an independent, locally owned and operated alternative newsweekly that reflects the heart and soul of Austin, Texas.
Subtitled A Movie in Song, George Ensle here tells the tale of a small Texas town, a former resident’s return there, and his fight with a “Big Box” superstore interested in his dying grandmother’s farm. From there, Ensle piles on enough small town clichés for a Hallmark movie of the week. It’s adapted from a one-man play where it might work better, but as a listening experience Small Town Sundown becomes a chore.
