BodyRock ATX 16th Anniversary

Friday 13, 29th Street Ballroom

DJ Chorizo Funk, Chaka, and Qi Dada have kept their lively dance party grooving for 16 years. Unlike most things nowadays, the cost hasn’t risen – admission is still $10. Guest DJs include Rapid Ric and Schi the God.

JØXX

Friday 13, Rivière Austin

In the midst of the pandemic, JØXX burst onto the local scene with “Opp Undercover,” a track owing to the latter days of melodic emo rap’s white-hot run last decade. Yet the singer largely disappeared by the pandemic’s end despite racking up some steam. He currently has two songs counting over 130K plays on SoundCloud: “Opp Undercover” and “Mariah (Freestyle).” He’ll return to the stage on the heels of October 2025 two-pack “blueforia” and “windowshopping,” both of which signal a shift toward modern R&B. Austin R&B royal Mélat headlines post-Super Bowl party the Final Cut.

Saturday 14, the Scoot Inn

Originally a part of hyperpop’s surge at the start of this decade, midwxst has also ventured into rage and pop-rap over the years. The Indiana-bred artist’s latest project, ARCHANGEL, blends all of his styles into one.
