Hula hoops and face paint. Coolers chock-full of hummus and cold beer. Toe-tapping tunes and howling at the moon. Utopia Fest came and went the weekend before last as advertised: one damn fine time in the mud and sun.
Rain fell the first night of the fest, Friday, but blue skies broke through on Saturday morning. Event organizers have refined this weekend into one of the best camping music festivals I’ve seen over these past years. Don’t take it from me – check out Austin’s Grupo Fantasma, Robert Ellis, and Lucius attesting to the slice of Texas paradise that is Utopia Fest.
