While Anne Ducharme-Jones has contributed to her husband David’s recordings and appeared onstage with him before, Strangest Things is the first time they’ve collaborated on all aspects of record-making, from co-writing to co-producing. David remains a formidable guitarist, but this set becomes one shopworn love letter after another. Some folk-pop moments stand out, like “Red Roses” and “Two Satellites,” but there’s never any kind of lyrical imagination to make this set stand apart.
