If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, the folks at Austin Beerworks should have very flushed cheeks. Inspired by the seven feet long 99-packs of Peacemaker Anytime Ale, Wheatsville Co-op has created a very limited edition companion piece. After all, those lucky enough to score one of the mega packs will need something to nibble on.
Why not 99 omelets?
According to packaged foods manager Niki Nash, “Anytime Eggs” was first suggested by beer buyer Shane Shelton. The aped design was a natural fit for Wheatsville. Nash notes that Christian Helms at Helms Workshop, who designed the Austin Beerworks oddities, was also responsible for the Wheatsville’s rebranding a few years back.
Unfortunately, “Anytime Eggs” was a one-off to promote Wheatsville’s “Co-op Basics.” Those looking to build a cascarones arsenal will have to buy the eggs one at a time. However, since eggs are now available in bulk, technically an enterprising customer can fill their own Easter basket.
We just hope the idea starts to spread. Note to Dolce Neve: We would totally be into “Anytime Gelato.”
