With the holiday season winding down, it can be nice to start the new year without leftovers and dishes waiting in the washer. We’ve rounded up some restaurants with deals and perfect eats to enrich your palate entering the new year.


Uchi, Uchibā, and Uchiko

Former Longhorn and celebrated Austin chef Tyson Cole’s Uchi trio – Uchi, Uchibā, and Uchiko – are each serving up special omakase-for-two menus on New Year’s Eve. At Uchi and Uchiko, the special will be a 10-course omakase for $350 and $375, respectively. Uchibā’s will be eight courses for $275. An okashi (candy or confectionery) dessert closes each meal, with Uchibā having a tahini, orange blossom & sesame rendition and Uchiko’s being green tea flavored.

Aba

California-influenced Mediterranean restaurant Aba’s New Year’s Eve and Day special includes jumbo shrimp cocktail with harissa cocktail sauce and filet mignon with truffled mashed potatoes, green beans, and tamarind steak jus. They’ll also have house favorites like smoky garlic hummus and grilled chicken kebab. For a more private date night, order to-go for two at $133, featuring hummus, Greek salad, whipped feta spread, jumbo shrimp cocktail, filet mignon, Brussels sprouts, and chocolate cake. (To-go meals come cold with reheating instructions.) But hurry! The order must be placed by Dec. 29 at noon.

Uptown Sports Club

At the corner of East Sixth and Waller is bar & restaurant Uptown, who put on a special edition of their usually Sunday-set Frankie’s Supper Club this year-end Wednesday. From 5 ’til 10pm, diners can fuel up for midnight with elevated classics like prime rib, lobster mac & cheese, potatoes au gratin, and their signature caviar service featuring johnnycakes, house-made chips, creme fraiche, and chives. Don’t party too hard, though, as Uptown serves a New Year’s brunch the next morning of chicken-fried brisket, bacon-braised collard greens, brisket black-eyed peas, chicken & waffles, and bottomless mimosas. Plus, a $45 Bloody Mary bar.

CARVE American Grille

At Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille’s sister spot, you’re welcome to celebrate New Year’s Eve with a holiday special from 11am to 11pm. Carve out some time for a three-course prix fixe menu featuring highlights like their signature wedge wheel salad and cedar plank-fired redfish. Meals per person will be priced at $79 before 5:45pm (or if ordering curbside pickup) and then $89 after that. 

Siti

If you’re traveling and looking to still enjoy a satisfying meal over the holidays, just inside the Frances Modern Inn sits Michelin-recognized Siti. Headed by the chef behind El Raval, Laila Bazahm, the restaurant blends eats from the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia. For New Year’s, they’re presenting a special menu that features savories like chicken wings with caviar, seafood fried rice, and akaushi wagyu ribeye.
