The Food Network continues to showcase Austin cooking talent on Chopped, with an episode featuring Jason Stude airing tonight (9/17) at 9pm. Second Bar + Kitchen (200 Congress Ave.) will host a viewing party tonight and is offering Stude’s first-round competition dish as a menu special this week.

Chef Stude’s broccoli soup with beer braised short ribs and a mint-fortune cookie gremolata will be offered as an $8 menu special at Second Bar + Kitchen all week.

Stude continues the impressive streak of local chefs chosen to compete on the Food Network’s challenging cooking competition series this season. The 35-year-old Stude is chef de cuisine at Second Bar + Kitchen, working for longtime mentor, chef David Bull. Bull is no stranger to the Food Network, having participated in an Iron Chef battle when he was executive chef at Austin’s historic Driskill Hotel.
