Concordia University presents the acclaimed nature poet and author leading a virtual poetry writing workshop with writing prompts, a poetry reading, and a Q&A moderated by Concordia students – and the general public (that's you, citizen) is invited.

For nine days, you’ll be able to shop online from more than 90+ businesses across Texas who have been impacted by COVID-19. On top of that, participate in daily digital workshops and panel events as well as two weekends of craftHER curbside, where you can pick up curated small business guides, boxes, meals, and cocktails from the craftHER Market team.

Capirotada is a delicious Mexican bread pudding concocted from a wide variety of nuts and fruits embedded within syrup-soaked bread. In a similar vein, this new show – curated by Los Outsiders – collects a group of artists revealing dialogues about self-reflection, meditation, and communing with nature through art. A fine array of works by Rachel Comminos, Julie DeVries, Soomin Jung, Paloma Mayorga, and Ryan Runcie bridge the ideas of the individual in search of solace in a natural world.

This is a group show by relay, begun in July of 2020 as a method of socially distancing a community in the height of the pandemic: Artists took turns alone in the space, each adding to the exhibition. Now, as it nears its close, the exhibition resembles a community in which work converses and overlaps. Join Swing Left ATX and Vote Forward for an entertaining night of music, community action, and getting out the vote! Volunteers will send heartfelt handwritten letters to unregistered and low-propensity voters, which has been shown to significantly boost voter turnout. Each Wednesday features a Texas House candidate and Texas musicians to entertain during the letter-writing.

Who's chosen this path of light? It's Austin artist Carl Smith, his abstract landscapes exploring composition and texture through the use of heavy impastos and aggressive brushwork, spontaneously creating "personal paintings with a strong emphasis on form and emotion." And you can make a reservation to view the exhibition up-close and personal, or, listen: "Our front room will be lit up from 8pm-midnight each night to allow you to view the installation from outside the gallery."

UT's excellent public art program offers this online discussion of "The Fact of Fiction: Four Works by Kara Walker," one of the exhibitions currently on view in the Visual Arts Center’s Fieldworks Gallery.

This virtual art gallery curates distinct perspectives of the American West – abstract to photorealistic, classic to contemporary – and now reveals its new show that features work by Felice House, Arielle Austin, Alice Leese, Debbie Carroll, Anna-Sophia Lagos, Elizabeth Dryden, Dana Falconberry, Vic Gilmore, Chanel Kreuzer, Katelyn Betsill, Sirena LaBurn, and more.

Austin ISD will continue to provide free, local Farm Fresh Boxes from the Common Market Texas through October 7. Boxes feature a variety of Texas-grown vegetables and are available at no cost to families with children under the age of 19, and are available until they run out. Children may accept the boxes, or they will be provided to the adults accompanying children or with documentation of the children they are picking meals up for.

The San Marcos Art League is seeking elementary to high school students for a temporary public art installation designed for windows of participating establishments on the historic downtown square. Kids will paint a: section of a designated window on Sat., Oct. 24, with a Halloween-themed image.

For its 27th annual iteration, AFF is virtual, and is packed with film screenings and events, including five days of panels and intimate roundtables with the world’s biggest names in film and eight days of film premieres, screenings, and Q&As.

Oh! This is a champagne tour and dining experience (from Gusto Italian Kitchen) and the public’s first opportunity to see behind the construction fencing at Kingsbury Commons, Pease Park Conservancy’s $15M, seven-acre project to create a world-class public green space at the southern tip of Austin’s first and oldest public park. This year's event spans six days and features multiple time slots each day. "This approach allows us to maintain the in-person energy of an event and the excitement of a private tour of this inspiring project – all while maintaining social distance with groups of 10 or fewer." This show features images by activist photographers of the Civil Rights Movement, telling a visual story of the struggle against segregation, race-based disenfranchisement, and Jim Crow laws in the 1960s. These photos capture the day-to-day struggles of everyday citizens and their resolve in the face of violence and institutionalized discrimination – with more than a dozen additional images representing activism and protest in Austin's own history.

Dallas-based artist Charlotte Smith continues to explore the physical boundaries of paint as an artistic medium, rendering her pigmentations' progress as something wholly fresh and enticing, and the walls of Camiba are vibrant with these new works.

Inspired by the Mexican American Cultural Center's annual La Mujer celebration – and by the first feminist of the New World, Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz – this online group exhibit is curated by April Garcia and features womxn-identifying and nongender-specific artists whose artwork is tied to activism, feminism, cultural. and gender identity storytelling, environmental protection, and socioeconomic parity.
