Jacquot de Nantes

Jacquot de Nantes

1991, PG, 118 min. Directed by Agnès Varda.

REVIEWED By Marjorie Baumgarten, Fri., Oct. 8, 1993

French filmmaker Jacques Demy (The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, Donkey Skin, The Young Girls of Rochefort) died a couple of years ago. His filmmaker wife, Agnes Varda (Cleo from 5 to 7 and One Sings, The Other Doesn't), made this tribute to her spouse. It's based on Demy's memoirs of his childhood in the countryside spent longing to make movies.
