    Austin Humane Society's Annual Kitten Shower

    Every year, from spring through late summer, the Austin Humane Society is inundated with teeny, tiny kittens! It’s Kitten Season, and over the next few months they'll welcome hundreds of newborns requiring constant care and support. To help raise funds for all those babies, they host a kitten-themed, family-friendly community event featuring kitten yoga, a bake-off competition, kid zone, paw-some local vendors, and of course lots of adorable kittens and cats.

    Birds Barbershop Celebrates Willie's 90th Birthday

    The local fave hair wizards honor this milestone with weekendlong festivities at all nine locations. Customers can upgrade their haircuts with a complimentary braid add-on, snag a free Willie-inspired bandana, and say "cheers" with their favorite bevs from Independence Brewery, Austin Eastciders, and Rambler sparkling water in a custom Willie koozie. Shops will also be playing a themed soundtrack featuring Willie all weekend, also available for streaming through the Birds Beats page. Book a service online or by calling your local shop.

    Blue Genie Art Bazaar's May Market

    We always shop Blue Genie Art Bazaar during the winter holiday season, but we don't have to wait seven more months! At this spring market, see the work of more than 100 regional artisans and craftspeople and pick up gifts for Mother's or Father's Day, graduation, weddings, or any other spring/summer occasion. Raffles, samples, and demos will be offered throughout the show.

    Fresh for Less Mobile Markets

    This program from the city of Austin, run by Farmshare Austin, has opened new market locations. There are now six weekly markets around town that sell Texas-grown produce, eggs, honey, and other groceries all at reduced prices. Most major cards are accepted at these markets and if you are a SNAP customer, you can also use your Lone Star card and Double Up Food Bucks. Locations and schedules are subject to change, so check the current info online to find one near you.
