    "Stepping On" Fall Prevention Class

    The workshop is for people who have fallen or fear falling. Participants will leave with more strength, better balance, and a feeling of confidence and independence after performing various exercises and sharing personal experiences with the group.

    Brown State of Mind University

    BSMU offers a four-course roster of classes centered around cultural contributions of minority groups in America, from Nas' Illmatic to Xicanx culture in Austin. The instructors include nonprofit workers, graphic designers, actors, and UT graduate staff and faculty members. (Courses are not redeemable for academic credit.)

    Computer Basics Classes for Adults

    Austin Free-Net and Southwest Key Programs is offering a basic skills computer class (May 8-24), including how to use a desktop computer, the Internet, email, and word processing programs. Classes are offered in English and Spanish. Free child care for kids ages 3-12 is available during classes.

    For one month leading up to Tyler's Dam That Cancer, FF's annual paddleboarding fundraiser, you can help support the cause in other ways. Attend a happy hour at YETI on May 17, or get a new hairstyle at Benjamin Beau May 20 or June 17. Blenders & Bowls Give Back Days are May 20 and June 17. (See the Facebook page for more info.)

    The Austin Animal Center is offering $20 pet adoptions for Memorial Day Weekend. Update: The shelter has waived all adoption and reclaim fees for the weekend. Foster homes are needed as well.

    Kevin Hines survived a suicidal jump off the Golden Gate Bridge. He not only survived, but regained full physical mobility. This is a chance to hear him speak at NAMI's featured event in honor of Mental Health Month.
