Spring Fling: Chuckstravaganza
One of our city’s crown jewels is its first public park, named for 1850s-era Gov. Elisha M. Pease, who donated it to the city in 1875. Over the ensuing 150 years, the park has been developed and improved with several efforts, including the Kingsbury Commons project that broke ground in 2019. Chuck Smith has been COO overseeing that project along with other park improvements and programming, and is due for a well-earned retirement. So come out to thank Chuck for his hard work and enjoy some of his favorite things, including Mediterranean bites, cocktails, music, and mingling. Spring Reuse Art Market
Three-time Best of Austin winners ACR have been masters of the sustainability game since 2009, offering up thrifty options for arts & crafts supplies, party stuff, theatre props, and more via donations from the community. Since launching their reuse markets in 2020, they’ve been showcasing all the cool stuff people have made from these whatsits and thingamabobs that could be languishing in a landfill. Shop unique wares from dozens of local creatives and celebrate sustainability with activities all weekend: a community art project, a natural dye demo with the Refugee Collective, a learning game with the National Wildlife Federation, crafts with Austin Area Quilt Guild and Central Texas Basket Guild, live music, and adoptable doggos; get all the details online. – Kat McNevinsMarch 29-30

Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! The Musical!
Beep beep! Make way for this vehicular bird, who springs from author Mo Willem’s Pigeon picture books onto the Zach stage for this family-friendly musical. Originally commissioned by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the production is suitable for kids 3 years old and up – so a perfect pick if you’ve got antsy toddlers yearning to dance and sing during stageplays. Plotwise, this isn’t a challenging piece: When a bus driver disembarks from their seat, a mischievous fowl takes the wheel to expectedly chaotic results. Fresh for Less Mobile Markets
This program from the city of Austin, run by Farmshare Austin, has opened new market locations. There are now six weekly markets around town that sell Texas-grown produce, eggs, honey, and other groceries all at reduced prices. Most major cards are accepted at these markets and if you are a SNAP customer, you can also use your Lone Star card and Double Up Food Bucks. Locations and schedules are subject to change, so check the current info online to find one near you. -

The Wayward Vampire
Adventurers in parties big and small (six people being the comfortable limit) are invited to join in this newest quest at LARP legend the Tiny Minotaur. At $45 per person, the quest runs about 90 minutes with complimentary snacks and a bevvie included for all the 21-and-above aged participants. From the Minotaur themselves: “It appears the Holy Circlet has sent an ill-experienced Cleric to the Rift to investigate and they are seeking the help of some Adventurers at the Tiny Minotaur!
