The Austin Latinx New Play Festival celebrates its 13th year of uniting playwrights and audience members in conversation about four new play readings that bring insight into the Latinx experience. After each reading, the playwright and director participate in talkback sessions with the audience. Though the productions have Latinx roots, they explore cross-cultural themes and modern dilemmas that will surprise, challenge, and engage audience members accustomed to one-way conversations at the theater.

"What if Bette Midler and Jerry Garcia had a love child?" Austin's own Rachel Pallante stars in a multimedia “choose your own adventure” musical comedy experience. Can she survive cult leaders, law enforcement, and bears?

Paula Vogel's thrilling drama follows the journey of a small theatre company as they tell us the story of Sholem Asch's controversial play, The God of Vengeance, from its origins in Poland 1907. The play achieved great success in Europe and the Yiddish theatre scene of downtown New York City. But when an English-translation was attempted on Broadway, it was too scandalous for the general public, and the entire cast was arrested and charged with obscenity. Jarrott Productions presents playwright Jane Anderson’s contemporary take on a classic story. Joan of Arc's mother is a sensible, hardworking, God-fearing peasant woman whose faith is upended as she deals with the baffling journey of her odd and extraordinary daughter. Directed by David R. At age 27, Austin attorney Sarah Weddington won the landmark 1973 case Roe v Wade that legalized abortion, making her the youngest person to ever successfully argue a case before the Supreme Court. A national debate ensued, and a divide in America endures over this controversial issue. What most people don't know is that after the case, Ms. Weddington and Norma McCorvey ("Jane Roe," the plaintiff), took divergent life paths that reflect the complicated polarization in our culture. Poignant, surprising, and with unexpected humor, this play by Lisa Loomer, directed for Zach Theatre by Jenny Lavery, illuminates the difficult choices women make and the passion each side has for its cause.

The Baron's Men, costumed in a manner that is as historically accurate as possible, present their new production of this Shakespeare classic, directed by Anneliese Friend at the Curtain Theatre – a replica of the original Globe Theatre – on the shores of Lake Austin.

The Filigree Theatre presents the world premiere of Molly Wagner's site-specific play, directed by Elizabeth V. Newman, that "takes place ten years after Milo, a twelve-year-old boy, drowned in the sea. Lauren, also twelve at the time, went into the water to try to rescue him and he was brought back to life 'by the power of prayer' of those who remained on the beach. His miraculous recovery generated a best-selling book which conveniently left Lauren out of the story, but now a film doc about Milo’s drowning is in the works and the film’s director wants Lauren back in the picture at any cost."

Summer Break Theatre seeks male-identifying actors to audition for one available male role, to play age 40s-50s, in the June premiere of Monroe Oxley's new play, to be directed by Jon DeMitchell.
