Updated 12:24pm: The Austin Parks and Recreation Department announced this afternoon the continued closure of Barton Creek Greenbelt Trail following the last few days' heavy rain.

The press release states:

"The Austin Parks and Recreation Department has re-evaluated the closure of the Barton Creek Greenbelt Trail and determined that the trail should remain closed at this time due to safety concerns.

The Department will continue to evaluate the conditions of the trail periodically throughout the day and will let the public know about any changes to its status through the media and on the Austin Parks and Recreation Department's Twitter account @AustinCityParks."

Heads Up!

Just announced by the City of Austin:

The Austin Parks and Recreation Department will be closing Barton Creek Greenbelt at 4:00 pm today (Monday, May 11). This decision is due to the deteriorating weather conditions and concern for flooding, erosion and patron safety along the Barton Creek Greenbelt.

The closure of the trail will be re-evaluated by the Park Rangers within 24 hours and a determination will be made on whether it can be re-opened at that time.
