Grave Injustice

It's been roughly six months since Anthony Graves was released from prison after spending nearly 18 years behind bars (most of them on death row) for a multiple murder he did not commit. On Saturday, CBS' 48 Hours Mystery will take one of the Texas criminal justice system's darkest hours and put it out there for all to see.

To recap, very briefly: Graves was wrongfully imprisoned, accused of the grisly murder of a family in Sommerville. Prosecutors lied about their case and hid exculpatory evidence in order to keep him in prison. Now that he's finally been freed, the state is blocking Graves from collecting money set aside to compensate – or to try to – those who've done time for crimes they didn't commit. Graves has filed suit seeking access to those funds; the suit is pending.

Man, 48 Hours Mystery has a lot to work with on this one, eh?
