GEAR UP FOR THE QUEER UP Too too too much is going on this week! We were hoping for a bit of a breather after our marathon editing/vetting session (otherwise known as “Best of Austin”), but the autumn event season seems to be kicking our collective bootays beginning this weekend. Dang. There’s Splash! and aGLIFF spread out all over the calendar, Foodies’ Coochie Coo, the Eastern Block Party, I’m From Driftwood, UT QSA‘s welcome back students fest …. Geeeez, cut a sister some slack. Then next week, there’s more aGLIFF, the Gay Wedding Expo, HRC‘s Dinah!, the Trevor Tour, and two beloved Austin expats, Jenn Garrison and Sharon Bridgforth, make their ways back into town for separate events. Phew! On a more fleet-footed note, we recently interviewed Margaret Cho for next week’s Arts section, for her upcoming Paramount show, and will be posting pieces of all that on the Gay Place Blog really soon. Sadly, the interview was conducted before we found out that she’s going to be on freakin’ Dancing With the Stars(!!!) with Bristol Palin. Holy ice floes! Here’s a few words from La Cho’s website about her exciting upcoming TV gig: “I’m so excited to be doing Dancing With the Stars, but I’ve got a lot to learn.
