The Harry Ransom Center announced today that it had acquired the archives of Tom Coraghessan “T.C.” Boyle, the celebrated author of such works as The Road to Wellville, World’s End, and The Tortilla Curtain.

In a statement released today, Boyle commented on the new home for his collection, which includes manuscript notes, research material, drafts, proofs, and correspondence with the likes of Russell Banks and David Foster Wallace, whose archives also have a habitat at the HRC.

“I am very pleased and honored to have my papers safely ensconced at the Ransom Center so that they may be preserved and made available to scholars,” said Boyle. “With such an archive, there is always the danger of damage or even destruction, especially when the papers are stored in filing cabinets and cardboard boxes in the basement of a very old house. I am vastly relieved to know that they are now safe.”

Boyle will be able to inspect the collection in person later this month; he appears at BookPeople on March 19 in support of the paperback release of his latest novel, When the Killing’s Done.
