    UPDATED: Austin-Area Emergency Shelters

    In addition to the central emergency shelter at Palmer Events Center, three new centers are reportedly open now. These sites have extremely limited capacity and are intended for the most vulnerable, such as people who need power for medical devices. UPDATE: Palmer is reportedly at capacity. Center at Northeast High was moved to Reilly Elementary. Current list as of Feb. 18::

    Villains Wear Black Presents

    This locally produced show, inspired by the likes of MTV’s 120 Minutes and USA Network’s Night Flight, offers a variety of music videos, live performances, and interviews. Created by Austin musician and artist Rona Rougeheart, who co-hosts/co-produces with Curse Mackey, it's a mind-expanding exploration of art, film, music, animation, and fashion.     Wilco Free Tax Prep

    United Way of Williamson County's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance is offering free drop-off/pickup tax preparation service by appointment only. IRS-certified tax preparers will provide assistance to households earning $57,000 or less annually and to older adults of all income levels, and services are available in English and Spanish.

    YMCA Early Learning Readiness Program

    A free community program for qualifying low-income families that focuses on preparing children ages 2-4 for school, while providing their caregivers with the tools to facilitate their child’s development. Classes are offered twice a week in English and Spanish and last one hour.

    Keep Texas Beautiful is accepting applications for its Young Texan Ambassador program. Ambassadors are passionate about the environment and are committed to making Texas the best place to live, work, and play through volunteerism and leadership. Program is open to young people age 15-25.
