1978, R, 91 min. Directed by Edouard Molinaro. Starring Ugo Tognazzi, Michel Serrault, Michel Galabru, Claire Maurier.

REVIEWED By Marjorie Baumgarten, Wed., July 26, 2000

This French sensation, about a gay couple who pose as straight during a ticklish family moment, was an adaptation of a successful French play. Two sequels were also made in France, and the movie was remade in America in 1996 as The Birdcage with Robin Williams and Nathan Lane.
