    Blacksmith Meetup

    Austin-area blacksmiths will gather at the historic Village Smithy to compete in a nail-making contest, just like in the 1800s, as they swap stories and wares. Open to blacksmiths and fans of pioneer culture who just want to watch sparks fly.

    Pioneer Farms offers several blacksmithing classes in the coming weeks, including Fundamentals 1.0 and 2.0 as well as a couple's class that will make sparks fly. Check out the schedule and sign up if you'd like to learn a "hot" new skill!

    Every Dog Is Lovable

    Local pet photogs Dog Days host a campaign to raise funds for nonprofit Hound Rescue, wherein pet parents submit a pic and story of their doggos, and the public votes for their faves. Qualifying dogs get a professional photo shoot and are featured in an upcoming coffeetable book, and prizes are given out biweekly to dogs with the most points.
    Voting open through March 19. $10 donation to enter, $1 per vote.

    Grant Program for Music Industry

    The city of Austin Economic Development Department is now accepting applications for the Austin Music Disaster Relief Grant. The fund provides one-time, unrestricted $2,000 grants to local professional musicians, independent promoters, music composers, and music industry workers facing hardships due to the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
