12th Annual Eastside Kings Festival
When Eddie Stout released the Eastside Kings album in 1999, the idea (as well as the musicians who made it come to fruition) inspired this annual event. Future Traditions Fest
No better time to explore the ingenuity of current experimental Latine artists than the closing of National Hispanic Heritage Month. Celebrating one’s culture extends to its future, which these artists represent in their multimedia work covering music, video, sound, and more. Friday presents an experimental video showcase, curated by Rio Grande Valley’s own filmmaker/archivist C. Diaz with soundscapes by vinyl DJ Pinche Juan. Saturday is filled by an artist talk from composer Cecilia Lopez (NYC), local producer/DJ Malika Boudissa’s Synth Salon, and performances by local, national, and international Latine performers. Close up the fest with a Sunday screening of Luzmila and the Birds, a doc covering Bolivian singer Luzmila Carpio’s voice and worldview. – James ScottSept. 27-29

Fresh for Less Mobile Markets
This program from the city of Austin, run by Farmshare Austin, has opened new market locations. There are now six weekly markets around town that sell Texas-grown produce, eggs, honey, and other groceries all at reduced prices. Most major cards are accepted at these markets and if you are a SNAP customer, you can also use your Lone Star card and Double Up Food Bucks. Locations and schedules are subject to change, so check the current info online to find one near you. -

House of Torment Haunted House
The big bone daddy of Austin haunted houses has sat on its throne of skulls and scares for 23 glorious Samhains. This year, it’s throwing open the gates to three attractions around the cursed town of Blackthorne: Beware the insectoid invaders of the Arrival before coming face-to-snarling-face with the Frail One, the keeper of a mysterious and malice-filled chest at the heart of the Abandoned. For retro chills, Torment ’99 brings back both your VHS faves and the black-and-white classic monsters for double the old-school scares. If that sounds a little too much for your nerves or the kids under your watchful eye, then come by 11am-2pm on Sunday, Oct. 27 for the lights-on Trick or Treat tour, complete with candy stations and monsters that only want to make you happy. – Richard WhittakerSept. 13-Nov. 9 -

Uhland Fall Fest
Autumn wonderland! Thirty colorful species of gourd! Oak-filled farmstead! Fall-inspired games! Vinyl Brunch: Vibes on Vinyl Through the Years
Throw a platter on and enjoy the vibes as Carver Library reimagines their Vinyl Night series with four Austin-based DJs. Explore the Seventies, Eighties, Nineties, and the new millennium with vinyl masters like jLA Cold, Queer Vinyl Co., and Foxy Brown.
