Women Make Movies is a festival showcasing 13 notable short films by women filmmakers. (See related story and film descriptions in this week's Screens section.) Events also include a kickoff party at GSD&M (828 W. Sixth) on Fri (8/20) at 5:30pm, a panel discussion with visiting and local filmmakers at Zachary Scott Arena Theatre on Sat (8/21) at 1pm, a children's presentation with Giga Gals at Austin Children's Museum on Sun (8/22) at 1pm, and a closing party at Speakeasy on Sun (8/22) at 6:30pm. The screenings include: "Your Name in Cellulite," "24 Girls," and "Black Kites" (with filmmaker in attendance) on Fri (8/20) at 8pm at the Texas Union Theatre; three short films by Jane Campion (The Piano) and one by Anna Campion on Sat. (8/21) at 4:30pm at the Alamo Drafthouse; and four short films by the women of Cinemaker Co-op, in addition to "Two or Three Things But Nothing for Sure" and "In My Father's House" on Sun (8/22) at 4:30pm at the Alamo Drafthouse.
