Fellini Satyricon

Fellini Satyricon

1970, R, 129 min. Directed by Federico Fellini. Starring Martin Potter, Hiram Keller, Max Born, Capucine, Salvo Randone.

REVIEWED By Marjorie Baumgarten, Wed., Aug. 15, 2001

Visually stunning and sensationalistic film is Italian master Fellini's take on the decline of pagan Rome. Filled to the brim with cautionary sights of almost-surrealistic debauchery and depravity, the film's most resonant image remains that of the eerie sacrificial hermaphrodite.
