House Party

House Party

1990, R, 100 min. Directed by Reginald Hudlin. Starring Christopher Reid, Christopher Martin, Robin Harris, Tisha Campbell, A.J. Johnson, Martin Lawrence.

REVIEWED By Marjorie Baumgarten, Fri., June 16, 2000

The Hudlin brothers filmmaking team and the jokester duo Kid ’n’ Play all broke out of the pack with this “urban” teen comedy that spawned a couple of sequels that never lived up to the original’s fresh playfulness and spontaneity. This is the only House Party that counts.
