Rope
1948, NR, 80 min. Directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Starring James Stewart, Farley Granger, John Dall.
REVIEWED By Marjorie Baumgarten, Thu., Aug. 26, 1999
Universal Hitchcock Series: Hitchcock famously experimented in Rope with temporal structure (the film is shot in supposed real time in 10-minute-long takes). It tells the story of two thrill murderers who were based on Leopold and Loeb, a story also told in Compulsion and Swoon.
