Portland-based media artists Vanessa Renwick and Bill Daniel (former impresario of Austin's Funhouse Cinema series) are stopping in Austin this weekend during their 10-state traveling program of their experimental and documentary films and videos. Daniel will present "The Girl on the Train in the Moon," a hobo/campfire installation that provides a record of his investigation into the secret world of hobo graffiti. The installation was one of the surprise hits of the recent Taos Talking Pictures Festival. Renwick wll screen a 70-minute program of her work, which includes short films about folk art, hitchhiking, rodeos, and contemporary society. See related story on p.47 of this week's Screens section for more about the tour's Austin stop.
