So tomorrow night, Thursday night, is going to be what my wife calls stupid cold.
[Note: Thanks, Obama.]
We reckon the weather's not going to keep people away from Little Pink Monster Gallery, though, where celebrated local chef Sonya Coté – she of Farmacy and Eden East and many other sources of excellent cuisine – will bring her prodigious skills to the task of making the tastiest noms featuring crickets and mealworms and the like.
That's right, this is a Future Food Dinner from your buggy friends at Little Herds, those affable and environmentally gung-ho folks who champion entomophagy the world over.
[Note: You think bugs can't be delicious? Any fool can sautée a batch of Tenebrio molitor so they make a person's tastebuds almost giddy with joy. So imagine the exotic excellence of what Coté's going to conjure on Thursday night.]
There's an added bonus: This event takes place at Little Pink Monster Gallery, over there in Big Medium's Canopy compound on the Eastside. And Little Pink Monster, even as new a venue as it is, was one of the standouts in this year's citywide Print Austin initiative. And on Thursday night, you can see what's currently featured in the space: The gorgeous, meticulously wrought surrealist artworks of Warren Sawyer.
We recommend this unique culinary-artistic collaboration as just the thing to warm the cockles of your various organs: Your stomach, your eyes, and even the cold, cold chambers of your diploid heart.
See you there, friend!
