Outside, it's grey, dark, with the potential for ice. Bleurgh. That's why the warming glow of Internet sketch comedy, courtesy of Juanita Butler, seems so appealing.

Her Web series, The Juani Begood Show, promises vignettes baked up from "the finest organic, awkward, unnatural, hormone-fed social ingredients." Once prepped and simmered, they're a fine menu of sexual and gender commentary, with an often acerbic take on men, women, and the underlying ridiculousness of the dating scene (warning: some humor may not be suitable for residents of the Green Mountain State).

There's a sampler platter already up at www.juanibegood.com, but Butler is trying to raise $3,600 to pay for production on the next three sketches. So far, she's halfway there, and you can spend the last of that Christmas cash your gramgram sent you on getting her over the top. It's already a Kickstarter staff pick, and you can find out more details at her Kickstarter page.

And a little update about another project recently featured in the One in a Crowd column: Karen Skloss' upcoming prom-horror fusion The Honor Farm made its $50,000 target with two days to go. Now it's a contender to become Indiewire's project of the week. What does that mean?
